International Science Literature & Film Festival aims at showcasing India’s efforts in science promotion and deliberates on science communication for transforming India. The festival intends to communicate evidence-based science for public discourse. Capacity building workshops on various aspects of science communication, science film appreciation, round-table discussions, interactive sessions with eminent science communicators, authors, filmmakers and a science book fair are the major attractions of this festival. It invites science writers, communicators, filmmakers, artistes, journalists, other science enthusiasts, and students of science communication and mass communication to strengthen their skills in public engagement of science and technology as well as promote scientific culture.

Scientific Session I  comprises of Panel Discussion on Contemporary Science Literature: An Assessment? by selected panellists/ experts where participants can ask questions on the theme.

Scientific Session II will be Seminar on Innovative Approaches to Science Communication and will have paper presentations. Interested participants may submit abstracts; only selected abstract authors will be invited for paper presentation.

  • August 31, 2018 Notification of acceptance of abstract
  • September 05, 2018 Due date of submission of full paper

Scientific Session III will be Scientoon Workshop and Competition. This will feature talks and include delegates’ involvement through an on-the-spot Scientoon competition on a given theme.

Scientific Session IV is Sahitya Vigyan Charcha – Interaction with Authors, where renowned science book writers will be invited. There will be deliberations on science-based book writing and two-way interactive discussion between the authors and the participants on different aspects of science literature.

Scientific Session V will be Workshop on Communicating Research to the Public. Tutorials on converting research works and outputs into popular science for mass media, especially for Ph.D. scholars and researchers.

Scientific Session VI will be Science Film Appreciation Workshop, where renowned science filmmakers will showcase their short films and discuss the films shown. This will be followed by interaction with the participants.

Scientific Session VII is A Journey through Science Filmmaking, where renowned science filmmaker(s) will take the audience through their journey and experiences and enlighten the participants about different aspects of science filmmaking.

Scientific Session VIII will be Chaupal – Science through Folklore featuring a dialogue on different traditional media including performances to highlight how these media can be utilized effectively for the cause of public understanding of science.

Scientific Session IX will be Round Table Meet on Science Outreach – Looking Ahead Experts from different areas of science dissemination will discuss and deliberate on the current scenario and the future strategies for the way forward including traditional, newer and innovative approaches to science communication for transforming India.
